T-Shirt Manufacturer in Turkey for European & UK Brands
Last updated:
Reviewed by Efe Bal, Co-Owner, Too Fabric
Too Fabric is a cut-and-sew T-shirt manufacturer based in Istanbul, Türkiye. European and UK brands order their custom and private-label T-shirts from us with a minimum of 100 pieces per style, design and fabric colour.
Every T-shirt is made from 100% organic cotton single jersey in 160–280 GSM, on our ready-made regular or oversized pattern or on a pattern developed from your measurements. A physical T-shirt sample costs €120 and takes about 2 weeks; the fee is deducted from your bulk order. Bulk T-shirt production takes about 5 weeks after sample approval, and road freight to most European destinations takes 10–14 days.

Custom T-Shirt Manufacturing for European Brands
Too Fabric makes T-shirts from fabric, not from blanks. As a cut-and-sew T-shirt manufacturer, we cut each order from organic cotton jersey to your approved pattern. You decide the fit, GSM, colour, print position, neck label and packaging, and all of it is fixed on a physical sample before bulk production.
Which T-shirt suits which brand
| Project | Typical T-shirt | GSM | Fit | Usual branding |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Streetwear drops and heavyweight essentials | Boxy heavyweight tee | 240–280 | Oversized | Large back print, woven neck label |
| Fashion brands’ core lines | Structured retail tee | 200 | Regular or oversized | Small embroidery or chest print, woven neck label |
| Merchandise and creators | Printed merch tee | 180–200 | Regular or oversized | Screen print, printed (tagless) neck label |
| Teams, events and companies | Lightweight everyday tee | 160–180 | Regular | One-colour screen print |
| New brands’ first collections | Core tee in one or two colours | 200–240 | Our ready-made regular or oversized pattern | Screen print and woven neck label; 100–300 pieces per design |
Typical choices from our T-shirt projects; your specification decides.
Minimum Order Quantity: Custom T-Shirts from 100 Pieces
Custom T-shirts start at 100 pieces per style, design and fabric colour. That is our minimum order quantity, and you decide how those 100 pieces are split across sizes. A first order of one design in one colour can therefore cover your whole size range, for example:
| Size | S | M | L | XL | XXL | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| T-shirts | 15 | 30 | 30 | 20 | 5 | 100 |
Each new combination starts another 100 pieces:
- the same T-shirt in two fabric colours, such as navy and sand: 100 per colour
- the same T-shirt with two different prints: 100 per design
- a regular-fit and an oversized version of one design: 100 per style
Higher minimums apply when materials are made for your order: a custom Pantone colour needs about 300 T-shirts per colour, and special fabric constructions, non-standard weights or custom trims are quoted individually. Your quotation confirms the MOQ before sampling.
Why the MOQ starts at 100 pieces
For any cut-and-sew T-shirt manufacturer, every order needs set-up at each stage: pattern grading, fabric preparation, cutting, screen or embroidery set-up, sewing and inspection. Below about 100 pieces per design, these fixed costs make each T-shirt disproportionately expensive. Smaller, repeatable runs also help you avoid overstock: since 19 July 2026, large companies may no longer destroy unsold clothing in the EU under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (medium-sized companies follow in 2030; small companies are exempt).
If you need fewer than 100 T-shirts per design, printing on ready-made blank T-shirts is usually more economical. We don't offer that service, but we will tell you when it suits your project better.
100 T-shirts per style, design and fabric colour
T-Shirt Fabrics, GSM and Colours
As an organic cotton T-shirt manufacturer, we make all our T-shirts from 100% organic cotton single jersey, in weights from 160 to 280 GSM. GSM (grams per square metre) measures fabric weight, which shapes the opacity, drape and hand feel of the finished T-shirt: 160–180 GSM for light everyday and promotional T-shirts, around 200 GSM for structured retail tees, and 240–280 GSM for heavyweight oversized streetwear.
T-shirt GSM guide
| GSM | Feel and structure | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 160–180 | Light, soft and fluid | Promotional and event T-shirts, summer basics, merch |
| 200 | Mid-weight, more structure and opacity | Retail T-shirts and brand essentials |
| 240 | Heavy and structured | Oversized and streetwear T-shirts |
| 280 | Heavyweight, boxy drape | Premium heavyweight oversized T-shirts |
We regularly produce in 160, 180, 200, 240 and 280 GSM. Other weights can be evaluated per project.
Organic cotton certificates
You can request copies of the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and GOTS certificates for our T-shirt jersey. Printing the GOTS logo on a care label or hangtag requires certification at every processing stage, so tell us early if you plan to use it.
Stock colours and Pantone-matched colours
Stock colours give the fastest timeline because the fabric is already available. Our 160 GSM jersey comes in a wide colour chart, and black, white and cream are stock colours in our heavier jerseys. Availability is confirmed in your quotation.
Need a specific shade? For about 300 T-shirts or more per colour, the jersey is dyed to match your Pantone reference. Pantone TCX references give the most reliable match on cotton, and we send lab dips (small dyed swatches) for your approval before bulk dyeing. Custom dyeing extends bulk production to about 8–9 weeks, and small shade differences can occur between dye lots and under different light.
Garment-dyed, pigment-dyed and acid-washed T-shirts are also possible for a washed or vintage look; we quote them individually and check the colour, hand feel and shrinkage on your sample.
Shrinkage and fabric behaviour
Cotton jersey can shrink slightly after washing, so we review wash behaviour and measurement tolerances on the sample. Typical residual shrinkage for cotton jersey is around 3–5% in length; tell us if you need compacted or pre-shrunk fabric.
Regular and Oversized T-Shirt Fits
| Regular fit | Oversized fit | |
|---|---|---|
| Shoulder | Set-in sleeve at the natural shoulder | Dropped shoulder |
| Body | Straight, close to the body | Wide and boxy |
| Sleeve | Standard length | Longer, often to the elbow |
| Collar rib | About 1.5–2 cm | About 2.5 cm |
| Typical fabric | 160–200 GSM | 240–280 GSM |
| Ready-made sizes | S–XXL | S–XXL |
For a custom fit, define these points before sampling: chest width, body length from the high point of the shoulder, shoulder width, sleeve length, sleeve opening, biceps, neck opening, hem width and collar rib height. "Oversized" describes very different silhouettes, so these measurements matter more than the word. You can also browse our regular and oversized T-shirt styles.
Heavyweight oversized T-shirts
For a heavyweight oversized T-shirt, most streetwear brands choose 240–280 GSM organic cotton jersey with dropped shoulders, a boxy body and a 2.5 cm rib collar. We make them on our ready-made oversized pattern or on your own measurements, from 100 pieces per style, design and fabric colour.
Printing, Embroidery and Private-Label Finishing
For most bulk T-shirt orders we recommend screen printing; embroidery suits smaller logos on medium and heavy jersey, and DTF transfers suit detailed multi-colour artwork. Which method suits your T-shirts depends on the artwork, fabric weight, quantity and print position, so we confirm it after seeing your files.
| Method | Best for | Typical placement | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen printing | Logos, graphics and text in spot colours | Chest, back, sleeve | Durable and consistent; placement prints go on cut panels before sewing. Plastisol or water-based inks; puff and flock on request. |
| Embroidery | Small logos with a stitched, premium look | Left chest, sleeve, back neck | Best on 200 GSM and heavier jersey; large full-fill designs feel stiff on light fabric. Flat and appliqué embroidery. |
| DTF transfer | Photographic artwork, gradients, many colours | Chest, back | Suits smaller runs; wash durability is checked on the sample. |
Artwork for T-shirt printing
Send production-ready Adobe Illustrator or other vector files with fonts outlined and all elements embedded, plus Pantone references for print colours and the width of each print in centimetres. Screenshots and low-resolution web images are not suitable.
Private-label finishing for T-shirts
Your T-shirts can carry only your brand: a woven neck label sewn into the back neck tape or a printed (tagless) neck label, care and composition labels, size labels, hangtags (with strings or safety pins) and individual polybags (with barcode or EAN stickers on request). Include them in your quote request so the whole order is priced accurately.
Our T-Shirt Production Process, Step by Step
-
Quotation and sample (about 2 weeks)
Your written quotation follows within 1–2 working days of receiving complete files. Once you confirm it, we make your sample with its pattern, fabric, print or embroidery test and labels, and send it by DHL Express (3–4 business days).
-
Sample approval
Try the T-shirt on and check the chest width, body and sleeve length, the neckline, how the jersey feels, the print size and position, and the neck label. Changes you approve are carried into bulk production.
-
Fabric preparation
We reserve stock organic cotton jersey for your order or dye it to your Pantone colour. Before cutting, we check the jersey’s GSM, width, shade and shrinkage.
-
Cutting
We grade the pattern to your size range and cut the jersey in stacked layers, size by size.
-
Printing or embroidery
Chest, back and sleeve prints are usually applied to the cut panels before sewing, so the placement stays the same on every size; some designs are printed on the finished T-shirt instead.
-
Sewing and finishing
Shoulder and side seams are overlocked, shoulders are taped, the rib collar is attached, and sleeve and body hems are cover-stitched. Finished T-shirts are trimmed of loose threads, pressed, labelled and folded.
-
Quality control
Seams, measurements and prints are checked while your T-shirts are still on the sewing line, and the finished T-shirts are inspected to AQL before packing (see Quality Control below).
-
Packing and shipping
Your T-shirts are folded into export cartons by size and colour and leave with the packing list, the commercial invoice and the right customs document: an A.TR for the EU or an origin declaration for the UK.

Request a T-Shirt QuoteQuality Control in T-Shirt Production
Every T-shirt order is checked in-line during sewing and inspected before packing against the approved sample, using AQL 2.5 for major and 4.0 for minor defects (ISO 2859-1, general inspection level II).
-
Fabric: composition, GSM, colour and appearance against the confirmed details, plus width and a shrinkage test before cutting.
-
Measurements: checked against the approved specification, with a tolerance of ±1 cm on body measurements and ±0.5 cm on smaller points.
-
Print and embroidery: placement, size, alignment, colour and appearance, with a wash test on the first printed pieces.
-
Sewing: seam quality, stitch density, collar shape and recovery, and visible finishing.
-
Final: labels, folding, polybags, carton contents and markings.
Textile production has tolerances because fabric is flexible; the physical sample and confirmed measurements set the reference. You are welcome to send your own inspector or a third-party inspection company before shipment.
T-Shirt Labelling and EU/UK Compliance
Your T-shirt labels must meet the rules of each market you sell in; we print them with your details.
- EU fibre composition:
- standard fibre names under Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011, in the official language(s) of each country where you sell. The fibre name is “cotton” (for example “100% cotton”); “organic” is an additional claim that you should be able to support with certificates.
- EU product safety (GPSR):
- under Regulation (EU) 2023/988, the brand selling under its own name counts as the manufacturer. Its name, postal and electronic address and a product identifier, such as a style or batch number, must appear on the T-shirt or, where that isn’t possible, on its packaging or an accompanying document. Brands based outside the EU also need an EU responsible person, whose details must be shown in the same way. The GPSR covers the EU and Northern Ireland, not Great Britain or Switzerland.
- Care instructions:
- care symbols (ISO 3758) are not mandatory EU-wide, but retailers and consumers expect them.
- United Kingdom:
- fibre composition under the Textile Products (Labelling and Fibre Composition) Regulations 2012.
- Environmental claims:
- since 27 September 2026, EU law (Directive (EU) 2024/825) bans generic claims such as “eco-friendly” unless the brand can show recognised excellent environmental performance, and sustainability labels that are neither based on a certification scheme nor set by public authorities. Use specific, documented claims such as “100% organic cotton” on hangtags and product pages (the composition label still reads “100% cotton”), and keep the certificates on file.
- Chemical safety:
- EU REACH restricts hazardous substances in textiles, such as certain azo dyes. Fabric certificates and supplier declarations for our printing inks are available on request.
We print composition, care symbols, your GPSR details and batch numbers on care labels in the languages you need. The brand remains responsible for confirming the labelling requirements in each market it sells into.
Shipping and Import Duties for T-Shirts: EU, Switzerland and the UK
Your sample arrives by DHL Express in about 3–4 business days; bulk T-shirt orders travel by road and reach most European destinations in 10–14 days. We ship DAP unless agreed otherwise: the cartons are delivered to your door, and you settle import VAT and any duties when the goods arrive. Freight is quoted once packed dimensions, weight and destination are confirmed.
| Destination | Customs document from us | Import duty on cotton T-shirts (HS 6109 10) | Import VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| EU | A.TR movement certificate (EU–Türkiye Customs Union) | 0% with a valid A.TR for goods in free circulation; the standard third-country rate is 12% | Destination rate, e.g. DE 19%, NL 21%, AT 20% |
| Switzerland | Commercial invoice and export declaration | 0%: Switzerland abolished customs duties on industrial goods, including clothing, on 1 January 2024 | 8.1% |
| United Kingdom | Origin declaration on our commercial invoice (UK–Türkiye FTA), at any order value | 0% for T-shirts that meet the UK–Türkiye rules of origin; otherwise 12% | 20%; VAT-registered importers can use postponed VAT accounting |
EU:
the A.TR shows that the goods are in free circulation in Türkiye. It is not a certificate of origin, and it does not remove import VAT or other local charges.
UK:
under the rules of origin, the fabric must be knitted and the T-shirts cut and sewn in Türkiye; UK or EU materials can count towards origin. Our jersey is knitted, and our T-shirts are cut and sewn, in Türkiye, and we add the origin declaration to every UK invoice.
Switzerland and other destinations:
Swiss clearance may need your company, VAT and customs details before shipment. For Norway and other non-EU destinations, we confirm the documents per shipment.
These rates reflect the rules in October 2026; current UK rates for T-shirts are listed in the UK Trade Tariff. Your duty depends on the HS code, the origin of the goods and valid documents; your customs broker can confirm it.
Why European Brands Choose Turkey for T-Shirt Production
Choosing a T-shirt manufacturer in Turkey gives European brands a complete cotton supply chain, road-freight lead times and duty-free access to the EU. Two advantages matter most for custom T-shirt production:
- Textile depth:
- Türkiye is the EU’s third-largest clothing supplier after China and Bangladesh, with about €9 billion of clothing exports to the EU a year (Eurostat, 2024–2025). Organic cotton jersey, dyeing, printing, embroidery and trims are all available locally, which keeps small custom runs feasible.
- Low minimums for custom work:
- from 100 pieces per style, design and colour at Too Fabric, whereas many other cut-and-sew T-shirt manufacturers start at 300–500 pieces.

How to Compare T-Shirt Manufacturers
When comparing T-shirt manufacturers, compare total landed cost and risk, not just the unit price. Ask each supplier the same questions and get the answers in writing. A lower garment price can be offset by higher minimums, longer transport times, larger inventory commitments or slower replenishment. Use the same checklist for every T-shirt manufacturer on your shortlist:
| What to compare | Question to ask | Too Fabric |
|---|---|---|
| MOQ | Is the minimum per style, per colour or per order? Can sizes be mixed? | 100 per style, design and colour; sizes mixed |
| Sampling | Is there a paid physical sample, and is the fee credited to bulk? | €120, deducted; about 2 weeks |
| Lead time | Are sample and bulk lead times stated in writing? | About 2 + 5 weeks (stock fabric) |
| Fabric | Composition, GSM, construction, stock colours, Pantone matching? | 100% organic cotton single jersey, 160–280 GSM; Pantone from about 300 pcs |
| Branding | Which print and embroidery methods? Labels and packaging? | Screen printing, embroidery, DTF; full private label |
| Quality control | Which inspection standard and measurement tolerances? | AQL 2.5 / 4.0; ±1 cm on body measurements |
| Customs | Which documents allow duty-free import into the EU or UK? | A.TR for the EU; origin declaration for the UK |
| Terms | Payment terms, Incoterms, and who pays VAT and duties? | 50% deposit, 50% before dispatch; DAP by default |
Types of T-shirt manufacturers
Not every T-shirt manufacturer works the same way. These are the three common types of T-shirt manufacturers and suppliers:
| Type | How it works | Typical minimum | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cut-and-sew manufacturer (Too Fabric) | Cuts and sews the T-shirt to your fit, fabric, colour and labels | 100 per style, design and fabric colour | Brands that want their own product |
| Blank supplier + decorator | Prints or embroiders ready-made blank T-shirts | From 1–50 | Events, tests and very small runs |
| Print-on-demand platform | Prints each item after your customer orders it | 1 | Testing designs without holding stock |

Frequently Asked Questions About T-Shirt Manufacturing
01
What is the minimum order quantity for custom T-shirts?
100 T-shirts per style, design and fabric colour, split across the sizes you need, for example 15 S, 30 M, 30 L, 20 XL and 5 XXL. For a custom Pantone colour, the minimum is about 300 T-shirts per colour.
02
Can I order fewer than 100 T-shirts?
Not for cut-and-sew production. For fewer than 100 pieces per design, printing on ready-made blank T-shirts is usually more economical.
03
How much does a T-shirt sample cost?
€120 per style. If the T-shirt goes into bulk production, the full fee is deducted from the related bulk order.
04
How long does T-shirt production take?
About 2 weeks for the sample, plus 3–4 business days of DHL delivery, and about 5 weeks of bulk production after you approve the sample. Including road freight, most T-shirt orders reach European customers about 9–10 weeks after the specifications are confirmed, or about 13–14 weeks with custom-dyed fabric.
05
How much does it cost to manufacture T-shirts in Turkey?
At Too Fabric, 100–299 organic cotton T-shirts with a one-colour screen print and a woven label typically cost about €7.50–13 per piece before shipping, depending on fabric weight and fit; larger quantities cost less per piece. Your quotation confirms the exact price.
06
How much do 100 custom T-shirts cost?
For 100 T-shirts in 200–240 GSM with a one-colour print and a woven label, budget roughly €850–1,100, plus shipping and import VAT. The €120 sample fee is paid up front and deducted from this amount.
07
Which GSM should I choose for an oversized T-shirt?
Most oversized and streetwear T-shirts use 240–280 GSM for structure and drape. 160–180 GSM suits lighter everyday and promotional T-shirts.
08
Are your T-shirts made from organic cotton?
Yes. Our T-shirts are made from 100% organic cotton single jersey. GOTS and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certificates are available on request. If you want the GOTS logo on your T-shirts, let us know before sampling.
09
Can you dye T-shirt fabric to my Pantone colour?
Yes, from about 300 pieces per colour. We send lab dips for approval first, and custom dyeing extends bulk production to about 8–9 weeks.
10
Which printing method is best for custom T-shirts?
Screen printing for most bulk orders, embroidery for small logos on 200 GSM and heavier jersey, and DTF transfers for multi-colour or photographic artwork. Once we have seen your artwork, we suggest the method that suits it.
11
Do you offer private-label T-shirt manufacturing?
Yes: woven or printed (tagless) neck labels, care, composition and size labels, hangtags and branded packaging, so your T-shirts carry only your brand.
12
What artwork do you need for T-shirt printing?
Production-ready vector files, such as Adobe Illustrator files, with fonts outlined, Pantone references and print sizes. We don't offer graphic or logo design; we manufacture from finalised artwork.
13
Do I need a tech pack to order custom T-shirts?
No. A tech pack speeds things up, but a measurement chart, a reference T-shirt or our ready-made pattern is enough to start. Your physical sample confirms the fit and details before bulk production.
14
Do I pay import duty on T-shirts from Turkey?
Into the EU, qualifying T-shirts are duty-free with the A.TR certificate we provide. Into the UK, T-shirts that meet the UK–Türkiye rules of origin are duty-free with our origin declaration. Switzerland charges no duty on clothing. Import VAT applies in all three; see the duty table above.
15
What are your payment and delivery terms?
The sample fee is paid in advance. For bulk orders, we ask for a 50% deposit on order confirmation and the balance before dispatch, by bank transfer in EUR. We deliver DAP by default, or EXW or FCA Istanbul if you use your own forwarder.
16
Can I visit you or arrange a video call?
Yes. Meetings, including visits and video calls, are arranged by appointment via email.
17
How do I choose between T-shirt manufacturers?
Compare total landed cost, not unit price alone: MOQ per colour, sample cost and credit, written lead times, fabric options, branding methods, inspection standard, customs documents, payment terms, and proof such as case studies and reviews. The checklist above lists the questions to ask.
